Our Pre-K Creative Curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity, inspire creativity, and foster a love for learning in our youngest learners. Grounded in the principles of child-centered education, the curriculum prioritizes hands-on exploration, imaginative play, and social-emotional development.

Students engage in meaningful exploration of concepts across various domains, including literacy, mathematics, physical & health, social-emotional, and the arts. Each unit is carefully crafted to align with developmental milestones and interests, allowing children to take an active role in their learning journey.

Our Pre-K curriculum emphasizes the development of essential skills such as communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Through daily routines, group activities, and open-ended play experiences, students develop confidence, independence, and a sense of agency in their learning.

Furthermore, our curriculum values the unique perspectives and cultural backgrounds of each child, promoting inclusivity, diversity, and respect for others. By creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that celebrates creativity, curiosity, and individuality, we empower our Pre-K students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally as they prepare for future success in school and beyond.

Our Kindergarten (KG) curriculum offers a dynamic and holistic learning experience that integrates key educational standards while prioritizing the unique developmental needs of young learners. Drawing from the Massachusetts Common Core standards, the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) guidelines, and the Next Generation Science Standards, our KG program is designed to foster a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, scientific inquiry, and holistic development. Through activities that celebrate Emirati culture, language, and traditions, students develop an appreciation for their own identity and the diversity of their community.

In alignment with the Massachusetts Common Core standards, our KG curriculum emphasizes early literacy and numeracy skills through engaging and interactive activities. Students develop phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension skills through storytelling, rhyming games, and hands-on exploration of language. Similarly, mathematical concepts such as counting, patterns, and spatial reasoning are introduced through play-based activities, manipulatives, and real-world contexts.

Our KG program incorporates the Next Generation Science Standards to promote early scientific inquiry and exploration. Through hands-on experiments, nature walks, and sensory activities, students develop curiosity, observation skills, and an understanding of basic scientific concepts such as cause and effect, properties of matter, and the natural world.

In addition to academic learning, our KG curriculum emphasizes the importance of holistic development through art, music, physical education (PE), and play-based activities. Students engage in creative expression through art projects, music exploration, and movement activities, fostering imagination, self-expression, and fine and gross motor skills. Our outdoor play area provides a safe and stimulating environment for physical activity, exploration, and social interaction, promoting healthy habits, teamwork, and sensory development.

At Yas American Academy, we offer a balanced and comprehensive approach to early childhood education, integrating key educational standards, cultural relevance, and a focus on holistic development. At the core of our curriculum are the Massachusetts Common Core standards and the Next Generation Standards, which serve as the foundation for rigorous academic instruction in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. These standards set high expectations for student achievement, emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills essential for success in the 21st century.

ELA

In ELA, students engage in a diverse range of literary texts, informational materials, and multimedia resources to develop proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Through analytical discussions, writing assignments, and presentations, students learn to analyze complex texts, articulate their ideas effectively, and communicate with clarity and precision. Our school library serves as a hub for inquiry, research, and lifelong learning, providing students with access to a diverse collection of print and digital resources, as well as guidance from knowledgeable librarians who support their academic and intellectual growth.

Mathematics

Similarly, in Mathematics, students explore mathematical concepts through hands-on activities, problem-solving tasks, and real-world applications. The curriculum emphasizes mathematical reasoning, conceptual understanding, and procedural fluency, empowering students to solve problems creatively and confidently in various contexts.

Science

In Science, students investigate the natural world through inquiry-based experiments, investigations, and projects aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. From exploring the principles of environmental sustainability and engineering design, students develop scientific literacy and curiosity while fostering an appreciation for the interconnectedness of life.

STEM and other subjects

Students have rich learning experiences in Visual Arts, Drama, Music, and ICT to foster creativity, expression, and innovation. Through hands-on projects, performances, and digital media production, students explore their artistic talents, develop technical skills, and cultivate a deeper understanding of the role of the arts in society.

Our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education initiatives promote interdisciplinary learning and problem-solving skills essential for addressing real-world challenges. By engaging in project-based activities, collaborative inquiry, and design thinking processes, students develop the critical skills that encourage students to contribute to technological innovation and sustainable development.

Moreover, our curriculum is grounded in the principles of sustainability outlined by the UN SDGs, which serve as a guiding framework for addressing global issues such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and environmental degradation. Students learn about the interconnectedness of local and global issues and explore ways to create positive change in their communities and beyond.
