Yas American Academy (YAA) is unwavering in its commitment to sustainability, embodying a holistic implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) throughout the entire school. Our dedication begins with the seamless integration of environmental sustainability into our curriculum and teaching practices. Recognizing the significance of education in promoting sustainable practices, YAA has taken significant steps to reduce our carbon footprint. All teachers now utilize MacBooks and Apple TVs, while implementing a bring-your-own-device system for Grades 1 to 12, minimizing paper usage and embracing online and digital textbooks. Secondary classes have transitioned to online projects and note-taking to further reduce environmental impact. Emphasis is placed on sustainable practices like composting, recycling, and reusing, fostering a comprehensive understanding of responsible choices among students. The curriculum, designed as a foundational tool, instills ecological awareness and conservation principles. Through collaborative efforts, teachers ensure the effective implementation of sustainability principles in their lessons, aligning with the UAE national identity’s emphasis on shared responsibility in addressing environmental challenges.
